Your favourite biblical character

Who is your favourite character from the Bible and why (apart from Christ himself, of course)?

For me it is Ruth.

She stayed with her mother-in-law, sharing all that life would throw at them both:

‘But Ruth said,
“Do not press me to leave you
or to turn back from following you!
Where you go, I will go;
Where you lodge, I will lodge;
Your people shall be my people and your God my God.
Where you die, I will die
There I will be buried.
May the Lord do thus and so to me
And more as well
If even death parts me from you!”’
(Read Ruth 1:1-22)

In some ways I have a similar relationship with my mum-in-law. We have remained the firmest of friends over the years I have known her and more so since her husband died.

Caring for her now that she is elderly is a pleasure and an honour but never a burden.
